I am looking for an alternative for the MACD for day trading. The MACD seems to only update after each candle closes which gives me a lagging signal. I want a leading indicator like the RSI, only to use it to gauge momentum for trends. I am trying to find the overall momentum of a trend to catch bounces off of these keltner channels.

An invaluable momentum indicator to me is the hitting new highs/lows ticker. Real Tick calls it a TAL Alarm. Your trading platform should have a similar one. I have one for NYSE, QQQQ and stocks on my watch list. I can set the filters to display any price range of stocks.
