This commodity is about the block. For the terrain characteristic that is made up of ores, run into Blob. For the blackstone block mistakenly chosen an ore, see Gilded Blackstone. For the mineral commonly mistaken as an ore, see Amethyst Shard. For the terrain characteristic that has atomic number 26 or copper ores, see Ore vein.

Ore distribution introduced in 1.xviii.

An
ore
is any uncommon rock-type cake used to obtain specific resources.

Usage

[
]

Ore blocks are primarily collected for crafting purposes, such as for tools, weapons, armor, and redstone circuits. Refined ore can as well exist combined to create a block of the material’s blazon.

Most ores driblet their resources when mined, and require a Silk Touch pickaxe to drib themselves.

  • Coal
    ,

    diamond
    ,

    emerald
    , their respective deepslate variants, and

    under quartz

    ores drop 1 unit of their corresponding material.

  • Iron
    ,

    gilt
    , and their respective deepslate variants ores drop 1 unit of their raw form.

  • Copper

    and deepslate copper ores drib 2-5 raw copper.

  • Redstone

    and deepslate redstone ores driblet iv–5 redstone dust.

  • Lapis lazuli

    and deepslate lapis lazuli ores drop 4–9 lapis lazuli.

  • Nether gold ore

    drops 2–vi gold nuggets.

  • Aboriginal debris

    is the exception; it drops itself when mined and must exist smelted to obtain netherite scrap.

Ores tin can be smelted faster using a smash furnace.

Information technology is not efficient to mine with Silk Touch and then smelt an ore block that unremarkably drops multiple pieces of its resource, because smelting these ores yields less feel and only 1 piece of the resource. Under golden ore is the simply exception, as each ore block drops an average of 8.8 gold nuggets even when mined with Fortune III, which is less than a guaranteed golden ingot obtained from smelting the ore obtained using Silk Impact.

Annotation Blocks

[
]

All types of ores can be placed under note blocks to produce “bass drum” sounds.

Distribution

  1. This refers to coal ore blocks spawned in blobs and not as parts of fossils or mansion forges.

  2. Instead of multi-block blobs, emerald ore is placed in scattered blocks.

  3. Deepslate variants only generate in the deepslate under layer 0.

  4. Copper ore blobs generate in larger sizes in this biome.

  5. Golden ore has increased frequency in this biome.

  6. Deepslate variants replace only deepslate and tuff.

  7. Different most other ores, ancient droppings’ frequency peaks at layer xv, and quickly tapers off higher up and below.

Trivia

[
]

  • Since information technology is exclusive to only two categories of overworld biomes (mountains and windswept hills), emerald ore is actually rarer than aboriginal debris per chunk.
  • The texture of ores were changed in one.17 to make them distinct for color blind players.[3]
